Sis - “Nesrib” [Cecille Records] (buy)

I first became aware of Sis’s music while on the island of Ibiza, however at the time I had no idea and it was only once I returned to the UK and began my search for the tracks that would not leave my head I found out he was responsible for two of them.

Sis, real name Burak Sar first put out music in 2006 on the ‘8bit’ label, his first EP was creatively called ‘EP’. Burak has also put music out on the Berlin based label ‘Sei Es Drum’ and more now commonly releases on ‘Cecille’, home to a slew of up and coming artists such as Johnny D and Robert Dietz.

Arguably the biggest track of the moment ‘Trumpet’ sounds like something out of a Ricardo Villalobos wet dream, so in many respects its hardly surprising that on several forums people were dubbing Sis as Ricardo himself, some even went as far to say Luciano and Raresh were involved.

Personally my favourite Sis track comes in the form of the undeniably groovy ‘Nesrib’ a slow starter it builds for four and a half minutes before it even shows any hint of the sample that makes the track the dance floor bomb it’s become. The sample comes from the 1988 Vanessa Williams track ‘The Right Stuff’

Nesrib is without a shadow of doubt the tune of the summer for me and could very well become tune of the year.
