Matthew Dear - Dog Days (The Robsoul Remixes)

Matthew Dear’s 2003 minimal “pop” like anthem “Dog Day”s gets the remix treatment from some of the best in the business. The Robsoul Remixes sees Chicago house legend DJ Sneak, [Robsoul] front man Phil Weeks & the more minimally minded Chris Carrier all turn out a quality take on this now minimal classic.

When they first launched I thought great a new (ish) sound but after the same sounding releases time and again I’m finding some (not all) more throw away Mp3 than ones for the collection.

Stimming’s rework of “Una Pena” is like a breath of fresh air lovely warm summery rhythms work next to tight drums, loose percussion, wood blocks and timbres. He breaks down by introducing Violeta’s mesmerizing singing which comes in and literally takes over the track.
