Kevin Saunderson Ft Inner City - Good Love (Luciano Remix)

By Joe • Jun 13th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

The Fourth part of this quite essential series, “History Elevate’s” See’s Chilean house pioneer & Cadenza label owner, Luciano take to remixing duties, there’s also a Jesse Rose remix on the EP but it’s more a filler than thriller so I’ll be leaving that to the blog house brigade to dissect and hand out to the masses.

Time Reveals is a nod to Chicago and takes influences from the likes of Larry Heard and the other house music pioneers. It comes with an updated Club use only version, the original, then there’s two other, solid house cuts on the EP “Smiley” & “Overjoyed”.

Two Armadillos - Hamlin

By Joe • Jun 4th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

Giles Smith & Martin “King Roc” Dawson AKA Two Armadillos are on a good roll at the moment with recent releases on Buzzin Fly & another on Four: Twenty not to mention running one of the UK’s best underground house gatherings Secretsundaze, this pair of house heads really know their stuff and it shows extremely well with their latest release Hamlin. Hamlin, which recently dropped on Poker Flat’s sister label Dessous is a solid three tracker which comes complete with a Sascha Dive remix.

Marcel Dettmann live at Zen Zero Club Italy 24/4/08

By Joe • Jun 1st, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Mixes, Music

Time for some real techno now on RC. I’ve been listening a lot to the Berghain sounds of techno recently, in particular the sounds of Dettmann, Klock and the other usual Berlin suspects. Here we have a recent set from Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann. He hits you up with a extended techno mix that’s been put into 2 handy zip folders each 1hr and 15 minutes long, which will be sure to take you late into the night and beyond. This is the sound of techno in 2008 and i like it.

RC Playlist -05- Blue flowers

By Joel • May 30th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Playlists

One of my favorite things to do when it’s sunny is to hang out in some nice park, boombox ready and blastin’, a cold beer in the hand. Just hanging out with good mates. At times like this I usually opt not to play techno. The lounging needs a proper fitting soundtrack and electronic downtempo [...]

Sety - Sweet & Sour

By Joe • May 30th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

Sety is the man behind the ever so slick and always on form French house and techno label Circus Company. Many of you may not have heard of him before as its been a good four years since his last release, but as they say a fine wine matures with age and i think it goes without saying this is one of the finest full bodied releases your going to hear in a long time.

Finite automata mix

By Joel • May 26th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Mixes, Music

Okay, new mix from myself. I won’t lie, it was a while since i did this so the oucome is not technically very impressive. I am however very happy with how the tunes were laid out and the weirdness to the mix. Starting out blasphemy-style right away by fucking with Technicolor together with some crazy [...]

RC Playlist -04- Saying Hello To Summer pt2

By Joe • May 23rd, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Playlists

So in the penultimate playlist of the Saying Hello To Summer compilation i continue sharing some of my favourite tried and tested summer jams. Hopefully it will introduce some to music they might have missed, or maybe jog a few memories of those who are keen music heads. Either way i think you will agree this is quality music that needs to be heard.

The Random Mix With Craig Gordon

By Joe • May 19th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Mixes, Music

Friend of the blog, Craig Gordon has sent us his latest mix & i must say it’s really good. Just what you need as summer is nearly upon us. This is an expertly crafted & quite emotional mix, taking you on a roller coaster of emotions through sublime vocals, cool edgy house music & some straight up techno. Just what the doctor ordered.

Braincell - Absorb

By Joel • May 19th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Single/EP Reviews

Man with a thousand pseudonyms, Cari Lekebusch drops a new twelve on Harthouse. This time under his Braincell alias, and the release is dubbed Absorb. No one should be unaware of Lekebusch and his extensive background in electronic music producing. He’s been at it a long time and still his stuff makes a splash. What [...]

Redshape - Plonk

By Joel • May 18th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Single/EP Reviews

What can I say? I’m a fan of the artist behind the red mask. Redshape’s latest release is called Plonk. It comes on a blue translucent vinyl courtesy of Present. I’m liking the dub version a bit more than its original. We are treated more than seven minutes of pure Redshapeian techno prowess here, people. [...]

Matmos - Supreme Balloon

By Joel • May 16th, 2008 • Category: Album Reviews, Featured Story

The duo of Drew Daniel and Martin Schmidt, better known as Matmos returns with another full length cd. Harmless electronic pop sounds are emitted a plenty on this one as the cover art so well depict. Supreme Balloon consists of mostly happy and uplifting, well constructed little analogue songs. Polychords is a perfect example of [...]
