By Joel • Jul 9th, 2008 • Category: Music, Single/EP Reviews

First things first. Archipel , for those unaware, is a design and music collective. A place for musicians and designers to collaborate on new, fresh projects - hopefully pushing boundraries and concepts into uncharted territories. The music is made from a shared library of sounds.
I was curios to see if Jesse Somfay, an artist I’ve [...]

By Joe • Jul 8th, 2008 • Category: Blog Posts, Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

Pikaya are Berlin based duo Daniel Ramm & Frank Greiner who you may know from their releases on Cadenza. Their sound is something i like to tag as “minimal funk”, luscious melodies, warm rhythmic beats and lots of groove.

Kalabrese goes about remixing Soulphiction’s “Reclap” with a care free attitude, laid back and lovely, it’s casual but strong and tight at the same time.

The Random Mix With Craig Gordon

By Joe • Jul 2nd, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Mixes, Music

This should be classed more of a journey than a mix always keeping the listener on their toes (how it should be) Craig goes about things very well indeed.

Rewound Circuit Of The Week

By Joe • Jul 2nd, 2008 • Category: Music, Rewound Circuits

This weeks Rewound Circuit comes for no other reason apart from the fact that I have been listening to a lot of early to late 90’s house music. This is one that has never really left my stereo and has been on repeat for a good few days now so i thought i’d share it with you guys. A [...]

Substance - Relish (Shed Remix)

By Joe • Jul 2nd, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Single/EP Reviews

Shed’s remix is a real beauty he slows things down and adds a delightful shuffled percussion on top of what is already an insatiable groove. Moving along smooth and seductively his remix really does creep up on you it’s more of a raw groove, quite basic but with an enormous amount of dance floor power. That kick drum works really well & has a slightly warm feel. And when put next to that micro percussion it really sets the track of well.

New Wave mix by John Diaz

By Joel • Jun 27th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Mixes, Music

CBS.nu - The Cybernetic Broadcasting System is a place full of amazing people and music. It was there that I found this freaky and stunning New Wave mix by John Diaz (myspace). No track-listing. It’s 1h19m of 80s cheese-tronic synth music. Nothing particularly interesting about that in itself usually. The difference is that this mix [...]

So it’s time to take a small step back again and contemplate missed gems. The release I’m talking about [...]

Anton Zap - Anton Zap EP

By Joe • Jun 24th, 2008 • Category: Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

Anton Zap is a relatively new name to the scene who first came to my attention by a split EP which he collaborated on with DJ Jus Ed.Since then we’ve had to wait a good five months to hear Zap’s new EP & let me tell you now it’s been wholeheartedly worth the wait.
