David Moufang continues his decent to top the end of year producer charts with another fine slice of deep and dubby house music. The Between Us EP is a quality two tracker of the finest stripped back deep house music.
This is the second set of remixes to be taken from Matthias Tanzmann’s Restless album & like the first its a mixed bag.
Marcel Dettmann - German techno ambassador, Berghain resident, label owner of [MDR] (Marcel Dettmann Recordings) & one of the most interesting and exciting producers / DJS around at the moment. Dettmann must be having the best year in his career & its about to get a whole lot better. His latest release “Clime” is possibly Marcel’s best work to date.
Baaz - “You & Some” EP is a solid deep house - four tracker and comes complete with an Agnes remix and again, like on [Deepvibe] comes with a collaboration with Knarf Skipson on the title track “Just About”.
DJ Koze is back with his annual EP last year we saw him release on Philpot, this time we see him on the newly formed [Areal] sub label [International Records Recordings]. Koze is a unique producer with an even more unique and fresh sound.
Pikaya are Berlin based duo Daniel Ramm & Frank Greiner who you may know from their releases on Cadenza. Their sound is something i like to tag as “minimal funk”, luscious melodies, warm rhythmic beats and lots of groove.
This is one techno package you don’t want to be without this summer, twisted techno at its very best.
Kalabrese goes about remixing Soulphiction’s “Reclap” with a care free attitude, laid back and lovely, it’s casual but strong and tight at the same time.
After a wait of 2 years Cassy Britton is back on her own self titled label [Cassy]. Known for here hypnotic, loopy house and techno Cassy is one of the best female producers in the electronic music field today. Also one of the most unique acts as she makes her own beats, uses here own vocal talent & produces her own label. With numerous collaborations and many remixes Cassy is a force to be reckoned with. Her DJ sets are very popular and her overall sound is very infectious.
Time for some more slick, deep Romanian action again on RC. The exclusive Danish label [Lomidhighlmtd] continues in fine form with a one of release from Boola where he gets a little help from his friend Demos.
Anton Zap is a relatively new name to the scene who first came to my attention by a split EP which he collaborated on with DJ Jus Ed.Since then we’ve had to wait a good five months to hear Zap’s new EP & let me tell you now it’s been wholeheartedly worth the wait.
