A Guy Called Gerald - “In Ya Head” [Perlon] (buy)

Gerald Simpson better known as A Guy Called Gerald continues [Perlon's] fantastic run in form with his first release within a year. The In Ya Head EP is two cuts of irrestistable dark house and techno. Lead house track -”In Ya Head” features vocals from [Sub Static's] Mia. Then on the Flip side is ”Moon Jelly” this is a dark yet melodic slow burner full of atmosphere and depth. This guy might have been away for over a year but within these two pieces it certainly shows he never really went too far.

In Ya Head is a dark piece of house music setting off with spine tingiling off key synths and the most evilest of baselines in comes the eerie choir samples and then Mia herself. The bass is squelchy and deep the vocal snippets are spooky and quite disorientating and the eerie samples just add to the tension. The Production is second to none i mean its quite intricate and very tight its all layered to perfection and you can hear every element ticking over just nicely. Gerald’s production and Mia on vocals is a match made in underground heaven at times its heavy and dark, disorientating and spooky but always top quality. A really fantastic piece from Gerald & Perlon.
