Adam Marshall - “Chord Tracking” - [Kuji] (buy)
I must admit i don’t know much on Adam Marshall and after listening to his latest, “Chord Tracking” I’ve got a gut that I’ve probably been missing out.
Chord Tracking is a quality modern house cut that takes you on an 11 minute journey through deep Chicago esque drums, vibrant loose chord stabs and an all over very good piece of house music.
Adam builds this 2008 modern day masterpiece by using a fast moving piano riff that weaves it’s way into just about every part of the track that it can going off in a whole heap of directions your never quite sure where its going next. This is accompanied by some low slung percussion and the generic hand claps. It all works incredibly well there is a distinct old skool vibe running through out, this could of quite easily been made in Chicago in the late 90’s never mind in 2008. His attention to detail is second to none the layering and intricate piano riff will work wonders on the floor. This track is a must!
Were not finished yet though as there is a remix from Canadian house expert Mike Shannon.
Shannon goes much darker and a lot tighter everything has been given a spic and span polish. The main riff stays intact but it’s more low slung the drums are much tighter and there is an overall funk to the piece. Some will probably prefer this to the original, personally i like both equally.
Mike takes you a deep work out that breaks down perfectly in the middle the percussion, (high hats inparticular)play a blinding roll, as do the chord stabs and the drums. A excellent remix from Mike Shannon and one you cant afford to miss.
Overall this EP is of the highest quality and comes highly recommended.
