Craig Alexander - “Soul Revival” [Millions Of Moments] (buy)
Originally released as part of an EP back in 2002 via Transparent Records - ”Soul Revival” by Craig Alexander has had a well needed repress which comes courtesy of the excellent & on form Japanese electronic music label - Millions Of Moments.
Soul Revival is a fantastic one sided slab of deep house for those who like to push it to the limit & break boundaries within genres. It’s not solely just deep house though as it takes you on a deep techno influenced path as well as down the deep house road, thus making it very versatile & extremely enjoyable.
It comes in with a deep distorted monologue about the “soul revival going on” … “You better get your ticket or your gonna get left. It’s without doubt the production which makes this fine piece of house music stand out. Skewed scratchy riffs and cool keys work well next to the deep monologue this is backed up with some experimental fizzing synths which needle their way through the track in a zig zag motion. The keys come into there own as does the fine (STL) style production, its all very tight and extremely well produced. Some will class it as techno others house, for me it has elements of both all of which blend the track together perfectly. “There’s a soul revival going on & we can put this thing back together”. Yes, Yes we certainly can.
Joe is deep in the groove
