Dan Curtin - “Pull Up” [Leena] (buy)
Pull up is one of the best dance floor tools I’ve heard in a long time. There’s something about it that draws me in. Halfway between house and techno this is a loopy excursion into the night. With drums that drag you in and a melody that changes shape so often its hard to keep up. Another good thing is the length of the track if your creative you can really work the floor well with it. Just when you thought it didn’t have anything else to give it hits you with a delightful old skool groove and a solid vocal telling… (shouting) at you to “Pull it up”. I found it works well next to tribal records from the likes of Mathias Kaden etc. Probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m sure a few will like it. The flip. “Glance” which is OK but not really my thing, a bit too bleepy spaced out & manufactured for my taste.
