Foals - “Red Sox Pugie” (Henrik Schwarz Remix) [Warner] (buy)
Foals are the latest band to take the UK by storm, with a very accessible cross over “dance” sound this group of lads from Oxford are destined to be the next big indie/ dance crossover. Like a few others in the scene, Late Of The Pier in particular, this group have a distinct and quite unique sound. Having just released their album “Antidotes” back in March the Foals are doing the usual album single releases and next up is “Red Sox Pugie” which will be available in June on the Warner label and comes with a brilliant Henrik Schwarz Remix which we have here today.
The band approached Henrik and asked him personally to remix their track, this doesn’t happen often in fact its usually the other way round but the lads had been keen fans on Henrik’s sound and thought he would be perfect for the job. Mr Schwarz does “Red Sox Pugie” proud and has produced a remix that will not only cross over into many a dance genre but will also introduce the Foals to a much wider audience. This is what you need this summer a good “sing along” crossover dance track, Henrik strips the original down and gives the fun, pop sounding record a house remake which works really well. He accentuates Yannis Philippakis unique sounding vocals making this track stand out and really jump out at you. It’s the sort of track that when it gets played you will get a small gathering of trainspotters clambering over themselves trying to get to the DJ booth first to find out who its by and who did the remix. The Red Sox Pugie single including Henrik Schwarz remix will be available on Warner in June. Essential summer listening.
