Kevin Saunderson - History Elevate 4 “Good Love” (Luciano Remix) [KMS] (buy)
The Fourth part of this quite essential series, “History Elevate’s” See’s Chilean house pioneer & Cadenza label owner, Luciano take to remixing duties, there’s also a Jesse Rose remix of “World of Deep” on the EP but it’s more a filler than thriller so I’ll be leaving that to the blog house brigade to dissect and hand out to the masses. Kevin Saunderson’s History Elevate’s series has seen some quality remixes so far everyone from Carl Craig & Loco Dice to Mathew Jonson, John Tejada and more, this time were seeing Luciano take on the 2001 club hit from Inner City, “Good Love”. Now depending on what part of the country (UK) your living at you may have heard many commercial remixes of this in particular “Up North” i think i must have at least four different versions from Cd’s that get handed out at club nights in Leeds, everything from bassline (more organ than wobbly 4×4 bass) to piano to vocal, to electro, so when i found out there was another one, from Luciano! i was eager to hear it and i must say it doesn’t disappoint. There’s not much you can do to the track by means of altering it or trying to remake it as it just wouldn’t work it’s all about the vocals from Paris Grey (the other half of Inner City) that make the piece, Luciano sees this and deals with it well.
His take is quite a stripped down affair with a consistent wasping bass line that will either annoy the hell out of you or make you move straight to the dance floor. He accompanies this by bringing in the all important vocals on top of some quality complexed percussion, you could say trademark Luciano as it’s that perfectly layered, tight & vibrant percussion that Cadenza & Luciano are renowned for. That buzzing b- line stays prominent through out and he adds what sounds like a woman mid way through an orgasm in the background. It’s all about the bass and the percussion Luciano does a stellar job on both and the vocals compliment his unique style of producing so well, it has quite a lot of depth and will be sure to cause a ruckus in Ibiza this summer. All in all it’s a very well executed remix and one that will see a lot of plays.
