Matthias Tanzmann (Various) - “Restless Remixed” Pt2 [Moon Harbour] (buy)

This is the second set of remixes to be taken from Matthias Tanzmann’s Restless album & like the first its a mixed bag.

First up is Reboot who takes on “Love shaped feeling”. Loosely timed rhythmic & quite hypnotic percussion sets the tone this is met by some lovely deep drums and some awkward synths. Frank goes about the remix very well indeed everything coming together quite brilliantly. He tightens all the components up and they all run together like a finely tuned machine. Deep & hypnotic with a distinct ”tribal” influence. Fans of Kaden, Ozer & [Oslo] should check this out.

It’s been a while since Samim graced the pages on RC but his “Moonshine” remix of Crazy Circus rightfully deserves a place on the review in fact i think this could be a favorite with many. Samim goes about things with a Chicago jack the groove feel, everything is much more heavier and has a lot more power. Mr “Heater” brings tha funk to “Crazy Circus” & it works well, obscure vocal samples and perfectly layered riffs work great along side that powerful jacking house groove. A very cool house track and not one to be underestimated.

Last up is Petre Inspirescu’s remix of Hot Sapporo. Pedro is probably my favorite from the [ARPIAR] Soundsystem to me his music just seems that little bit more accomplished more of a finished product rather than still learning. Anyway his take on “Hot Sapporo” is very Petre & very Cadenza setting the tone with rhythmic percussion, tight drums, plucked strings, warm keys and a oblong like bassline. Hot Sapporo really has a lot to give. Things start to come together as you move through the record the warm keys work side by side with the tight percussion and this is where Pedro’s deep bubbly bass samples come in perfectly or quite oblong - like  bass as i like to think of it as. The organic keys break away and your left with just the depth of the drums and the percussion this is where you feel the sheer force of the record. Back in comes the keys and you start over again.

There is something for everyone in this package I guarantee you wont be disappointed. And while your at it check the first part or at least the fantastic Peter Dildo Remix of “Swim”.
