Ripperton - “Leonors Lanugo” [Perspectiv] (buy)
This release is the one that Ripperton was working on during the 9 months of his girlfriend’s pregnancy so quite a special release for the label head of Perspectiv. “Leonors Lanugo” is a beautiful listen full of warmth and melodies it really does make you feel good inside. Putting the cherry on top of this delightful cake is Anders Ilar with a fantastic dub remix. Both tracks are quite essential and both producers show their skills off well.
Ripperton’s original, “Leonors Lanugo” is a joy to listen to he says its all about sensations and heartbeats, going on to say he had many unanswered questions as i think any one would when expecting their first child. Sensations is the best way to describe this as you go through many when listening, the melodies are quite mysterious but loving and warm at the same time. The heartbeat element that Ripperton mentions is clearly present throughout and is another sensation to add to the piece, he really takes you on a journey eventually the track opens up and becomes a really wonderful aural experience, is this Ripperton interpreting the birth of his child through sound? i think it just might be you know, either way this is a real special piece of music and it shows from start to finish.
When making a special meaningful piece of music, if there is going to be a remix, which there is, you want someone of the similar nature to work on it you wouldn’t want someone coming along with their big dirty size 9’s and completely transforming the record. With this in mind Ripperton couldn’t think of anyone better than Anders Ilar & when you hear it you will understand why. This is quite a sublime remix full of calming dubby textures, playful melodies and complex rhythms. Mr Ilar certainly does the original proud its a really fantastic remix lots of polyrhythmic structures and full of sensation it sooths every part of your body mind and soul putting you in a trance like state.
A special release from Ripperton and one that’s been backed up with an equally special remix from Anders Ilar.
