Sety - “Sweet & Sour” EP [Circus Company] (buy)

Sety is the man behind the ever so slick and always on form French house and techno label Circus Company. Many of you may not have heard of him before as its been a good four years since his last release, but as they say a fine wine matures with age and i think it goes without saying this is one of the finest full bodied releases your going to hear in a long time.

Sety kicks things off with “Mogane” this is laid back deep houser that chugs along at a nice pace its quite ambient but at the same time it holds a lot of depth. A real late night early morning record, you could almost class it as a few notches below psychedelic its the sort of record that your likely to hear at the glade festival or the big chill.

Next up is the Canadian house master Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts with a fantastic reworking of “Mogane” and quite possibly one of his best remixes to date. If the A side is the big chill this is most definitely the big groove. Mr Dumont’s has reworked this so much its like your listening to a completly different record.This is slick & sexy percussive house, with a deep house edge. The vocal has a distinct Chicago House feel to it backed up with a rolling conga drum and some cool synths this is a real class piece of house music.

Flip over to the B side where you will find “Fogo Puro” this is yet another slick and sexy piece of minimal house that has that tribal edge to it. This is less deep house and more sexy techno, rolling out with a piano riff and some sweet french vocals that instantly melt away into your mind. This is one useful piece of vinyl. As a bonus and rounding things off just nice, Sety has included Fogo Puro bonus beats this is a good dance floor tool that would work well being layered with other similar sounding music.

A very good release from Circus Company and such a great return from Sety.
