Simian Mobile Disco - “Sleep Deprivation” (Simon Baker Remix) [Infant LTD] (buy)

Simon “Plastik” Baker reworks Simian Mobile Disco’s recent single “Sleep Deprivation” and the out come is a 10 minute loopy techno work out that will be smashing discotheque’s to death up and down the land this summer. This is easily Simon’s best work since he released the dance floor - swallowing “Plastik” back in 2007. If your expecting an electro romp as it’s by SMD well think again, Baker reworks this to an anthem like state, and then some. One of the biggest tunes from the WMC in Miami this has Ibiza written all over it. Taking you on a mind bending melodic romp through loopy techno that fizzes and whirs uncontrollably as your ride is about to start. The melodic looped hook will have clubbers reaching for the lasers when it gets dropped by the likes of Vath & Hawtin at Cocoon. Make sure your strapped in as you don’t want to fall off this ride. He rides the waves of techno superbly, with a good break down in the middle which he builds and lets fizz out before bringing back that all important loopy riff. It turns out that Wichita turned down Simon’s remix which resulted to them not putting it out when the single was released. What a bad move that has turned out to be as this will be one of the essential summer tracks. Inevitably Simon wanted people to hear this so it’s been put out on his own Leeds based Infant Records. Bombs away!
