Tolga Fidan - “All Pleasure Is Relief EP” - [Vakant]
Rating: ★★★★★

This is one of the best releases for Vakant in a long time. Tolga Fidan manages to create two very unique and fresh sounding tracks, by taking influences from middle eastern climbs and more ethnic origins & blending the two together. He adds a little of his own magic dust on the way & there you have it two certified dance floor bombs. Starting of with the ultra deep “All Pleasure is Relief” which comes in very crisp, clean and percussive, it takes a while to open up but when it does all becomes clear. Tolga adds cool synth pattern’s accompanied by the scattered percussion and slowly blends in the plucked strings from the guitar. (Which may i add he recorded live). The track has a very ethnic rhythm & feel through out which works very well. He sneakly adds a ghostly vocal that will turn the floor misty.  Instantly ear catching this is one for the late night early morning brigade. The B side is my favorite of the two “For Our Fathers.” Continuing with the ethnic influences but going much more deeper and darker. kicking in with a growling bass and the plucked guitar, which has been underpinned by the one of the most obscure and dark melodies your likely to hear, all of which has been backed up by a evil siren that will guarantee to turn the floor blue. This one moves faster than the A side making it more DJ friendly full of deep textures and even a live harmonica he blends drums, the percussion and the melody fantastically well. Both tracks have alot to give. A extremely good EP.
