Braincell - Absorb

By Joel • May 19th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Single/EP Reviews

Man with a thousand pseudonyms, Cari Lekebusch drops a new twelve on Harthouse. This time under his Braincell alias, and the release is dubbed Absorb. No one should be unaware of Lekebusch and his extensive background in electronic music producing. He’s been at it a long time and still his stuff makes a splash. What you can expect is three tracks of good thumping tech house material, tailored to make those sweaty summer crowds bounce. The B1 song, where Cari lets fellow countryman Pär Grindvik do the honors and remix the title track, is the absolute highlight. Grindvik strips down the original to a real ice cold 10 minute track which reminds me of Barem’s So Serial (on the mp3 version of Never Better Than Late EP). Throw in some heavy dubbed out synths and you got it nailed down a la Grindvik vs Lekebusch. Epic encounter that almost breaks away too much from its minimal beginnings. Never the less - this tune is sick! Pär Grindvik is shaping up to be a producer i’m always eager to check out, be it a remix or his own material. The other two tunes are not to be missed either, solid floor material suitable for intense dance session sets.

PS. Looks like Kompakt has managed to hook up with Pluxus. The big time label is reissuing Solid State (which RC has mentioned before) + releasing a 12″ with four tracks from that album. Very nice!
