Laurent Garnier - Back to my roots EP

Finally our beloved Mr Garnier releases something for us to groove to again. Back to my roots is two tracks of feverishly drumming techno. Something for both the house and techno heads to shuffle their feet to a warm summer night. The title track is something psychadelic, something almost hippy-esque in its wild swaggering, tingling and funky state. Epic and at times reminiscent of some old agent/spy movie sound-track - original jazz shit going on fellas. Serve this 12+ minute track with strange substances and murky, dark, moist dance facilities for highest effect. B side Panoramix is the more orthodox song of the two, but don’t expect any formelaic tech-house drowsyness, no no, Garnier gives us a spacey slow building track. Panoramix eventually culminates into a strong, melodic yet pumping sci-fi fable - somewhat giving me Bodzin on crack vibes. Again a long tune, clocking in at 11 minutes…

It’s extremely hard to pick out a track to showcase, both very different and both superb in their own right. I will go with Back to my roots (Original Afrodiziac mix) simply because of its creative nature. Go buy this marvelous twelve!
