Matmos - Supreme Balloon

The duo of Drew Daniel and Martin Schmidt, better known as Matmos returns with another full length cd. Harmless electronic pop sounds are emitted a plenty on this one as the cover art so well depict. Supreme Balloon consists of mostly happy and uplifting, well constructed little analogue songs. Polychords is a perfect example of this. Bouncy and cute, very catchy. A little gem that will surely fit as soundtrack for a stroll in the nearest green park with the sun shining on your face. Matmos departs from their usual sample driven composition technique and this time employs old synthesisers. The only thing that bothers me a bit about this album is that you eventually get kind of fed up on the joyful nintendo bleepfest. Solid outing though.
