Stimming - Una Pena

By Joe • Aug 28th, 2008 • Category: Music, Single/EP Reviews

Stimming’s rework of “Una Pena” is like a breath of fresh air lovely warm summery rhythms work next to tight drums, loose percussion, wood blocks and timbres. He breaks down by introducing Violeta’s mesmerizing singing which comes in and literally takes over the track.

Soulphiction - Reclap (Kalabrese Remix)

By Joe • Jul 2nd, 2008 • Category: Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

Kalabrese goes about remixing Soulphiction’s “Reclap” with a care free attitude, laid back and lovely, it’s casual but strong and tight at the same time.

Substance - Relish (Shed Remix)

By Joe • Jul 2nd, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Single/EP Reviews

Shed’s remix is a real beauty he slows things down and adds a delightful shuffled percussion on top of what is already an insatiable groove. Moving along smooth and seductively his remix really does creep up on you it’s more of a raw groove, quite basic but with an enormous amount of dance floor power. That kick drum works really well & has a slightly warm feel. And when put next to that micro percussion it really sets the track of well.

Cae & Nin

By Joe • Jun 23rd, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

The unofficial [Ral] label continues to bring joy to music heads and trainspotters a like. It’s a safe bet to say if you have either seen the three Romanians or any of the Chileans in the past year you will have more likely than not heard something coming from the [Ral] label.
Cae” is Caetano Veloso’s classic from 1987, “Depois Que O Ile Passar” remixed by Luciano & “Nin” is a version of Nina Simone’s 1965 classic “Sinnerman” also remixed by Luciano.

Kevin Saunderson Ft Inner City - Good Love (Luciano Remix)

By Joe • Jun 13th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

The Fourth part of this quite essential series, “History Elevate’s” See’s Chilean house pioneer & Cadenza label owner, Luciano take to remixing duties, there’s also a Jesse Rose remix on the EP but it’s more a filler than thriller so I’ll be leaving that to the blog house brigade to dissect and hand out to the masses.

Matthias Tanzmann - Swim (Peter Dildo Remix)

By Joe • Jun 11th, 2008 • Category: Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

Matthias Tanzmann’s album, “Restless” has had the remix treatment, well some of the tracks have maybe it might come in parts like many do when it comes to remixing album tracks, this being the first. Anyway i’ve decided to go with one that i see to be the strongest in the package. Peter Dildo of Mountain People fame, Rozzo etc, etc has done a absolute sterling job on “Swim.

Ripperton - Leonors Lanugo

By Joe • Jun 4th, 2008 • Category: Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

This release is the one that Ripperton was working on during the 9 months of his girlfriend’s pregnancy so quite a special release for the label head of Perspectiv. “Leonors Lanugo” is a beautiful listen full of warmth and melodies it really does make you feel good inside. Putting the cherry on top of this delightful cake is Anders Ilar with a fantastic dub remix. Both tracks are quite essential and both producers show their skills off well.

Sety - Sweet & Sour

By Joe • May 30th, 2008 • Category: Featured Story, Music, Reviews, Single/EP Reviews

Sety is the man behind the ever so slick and always on form French house and techno label Circus Company. Many of you may not have heard of him before as its been a good four years since his last release, but as they say a fine wine matures with age and i think it goes without saying this is one of the finest full bodied releases your going to hear in a long time.
